Damn, I forgot that Tsar Samuil, "a warlike man who knew no rest", should be with the main army! His guards should be able to do well in battle (btw, I wonder if Emperor Basil II is with the Roman troops too... Probably...)!
Damn, I also forgot I "killed" Prince Gavril Radomir! Schei*se! I was just re-reading about him yesterday in one history guide - sources say that he "surpassed his father (Samuil) by might and strength, although he wasn't as good in wisdom and wit", he saved his father's life several times by "bravely repulsing" the enemy's attacks. He would've been a great addition for this battle! Too bad I 'killed" him in one of Nike's logs! Oh, well, Tsar Samuil's guards would have to do, so feel free to use them whenever you find it necessary (or I could edit my log and make the Angelic cavalry both HK's troops and the Tsar's/Imperial Guards?)...

I have no idea who's controling my men, I'm just wounded and unable to go to battle myself.

Wel, that's actually not quite true...I held back 1/3 of my men as a reserve to fill in the gaps in my line, if the enemy is strong enough to break through. And as far as I know most of them are already quite busy in the east...

I guess everything depends on the troops of hawk and Xuca, or whoever is controlling them....

But good to see that the story continious!

Uhm, wouldn't it be better for the Tsar to command the Serbian troops? I mean, I doubt the Serbs can understand Dobber's orders well and fast enough, while they would have only little problems with understanding Bulgarian (both being South-Slavic languages and that). Maybe Tsar Samuil's men (and eventually Xuca's) should be positioned between me and whoever's to the east of me. Or the Tsar is under Dobber's command? Btw, where are Tsar Samuil and Xuca anyway? I know that Xuca's wounded, but did he came with the main army? And I think Samuil was with the bulk too. Or he will come later, the Bulgaro-Rohirrim style, to save the day in the hottest moment (this would be quite banal, I think)? Anyway, in all cases, I think we shouldn't forget him. After all, he's one of the reasons for this war...

P.S. Merry Christmas, frohe Weihnachten, feliz Navidad and Срећан Божић to you all!
Eric, give me a small glass of greyana rakia, please!

The troops that came with me are under Kuno's or Angryminer's command, I left them in Adriannople when I went north to search for the reinforcements! I have now just gotten back to a city under attack and am in command of someone elses troops!
I will look through the story thread to see who I am leading! Whoever's troops I am leading had about 80,000 men with them I think!

Navatar's Journal
17th July, Six Years after the Mercian Siege

I was training swordplay (with blunt wodden swords ofcourse) with my twin sons in the courtyard this afternoon when a castle-guard told me that a peculiar dressed man with a strange accent wanted a audience with me. I had made it clear that I was done with audiences today but the peculiar man said that it was important. As my sons were too busy wrestling on the grass over who was the best swordsman, I figured I could give some minutes to this 'peculiar' man. When the guard let the man in I wasn't surprised the guards first thought was that he was peculiar. He was wearing a ornmated tunic with a yellow vest with golden buttons above, matching pants with stripes and a hat I never saw before. And he had a very...curved and shiny mustache which made him look even more silly.

"Greetingz King Navatar.", he said. "I am pleazed to finally meet the famouz Mercian who repelled the Normanz and Wellish scumz from Mercia, all by himzelf!"
I tried to tell him that I wasn't alone in either battle but he continued to praise me. Maybe that was tradition in whatever country he was from but I never liked praise. When I managed to interrupt him by asking his name he stopped.
"Oh, forget my mannerz! I am Franz Fillipe Joaquis the IV and I have come az a emmizary from ze kingdom of France.", he said while bowing.
"That explains alot"
"What did you zay my liege?"
"Nothing. What brings you here to my fair province?"
"My King, Jean Franquis the Firzt, has zent me here to propoze an alliance between our countriez to bring our people clozer together and also too flourish our trade."
"Alliance? How come?"
Franz looked surprised for a moment as he didn't expect that response but quickly rallied. "Why, you are ze famouz all around France for your amazing bravery and command zkill! My King will feel extremely honuured to be ally to ze greatezt general of the North!"
He sprouted out another two minutes of praise and worn out cliches (while I was thinking about whats was going to be for dinner) before he stopped to hear my answer. After some thought I decided.
"I will be very honoured to be France's ally in this dire time."
"Good. I am, on ze behalf on my country and King, very grateful. When can you travel too ze France then?"
"What?"
"Why, it is ze custom in France that two kings who joinz in a alliance too meet in person and sign the treaty in public. And az King Jean Franquiz izn't feeling very good in his legz after he injured himzelf when he fell offf ze horze, it would be ze easier for you too meet with King Jean than he too meet you"

I was rather glad I would have another ally, but I wasn't so comfortable in travelling to France and leave Mercia while we are expanding the city with new buildings and blocks. And I promised my wife and my sons I would never leave their side again. I told Franz of my thoughts and predicament. Quickly, too quickly actually, Franz suggested I would bring my wife and kids to France. To let them see the outside world.
I was still unsure, but then my kids jumped out of their hiding in a little schrub nearby (and they had ofcourse heard everything. I must remind myself to tell Barret to stop learning my sons the 'spy-trade') and they were shaking my leg and was rapidly trying to convince me to bring them along. Franz laughed.
After some thought I decided I would go to France with my wife, kids. (And Franz ofocurse) The kids hurrayed and was jumping in circles repeating the phrase "France, France, France"

The boat will set sail in four days and under that time I will sort out all the details on how the council will proceed with the construction while I'm gone. This might be good for me, and my family. After all that has happened the past years there hasn't been much relaxing and travelling. I've heard France got beautifull countryside. I'm actually looking forward to this trip.

I didn't have the patience to wait five years for them to grow up so I skipped a few years. (It feels like i'm not really tied to your time-period anymore, as I'm not a ounce involved in the war down south)
