So after we all are supplied with drinks...what about a little small talk.....

We can always discuss the weather. For example, it's going to be a little cold around my place: -18 for a low tomorrow, then -20 on Friday. :pleased:

Or if no one wants that, we can always swap jokes, one liners, funny quotes, etc. Or we could just sit around and complain about how little small talk there is.

-18°... -20°? Fahrenheit or Celsius? -20°F is approx. -28°C, so it seems to be very cold at your place... I experienced such a temperature only once - and I do not miss it since then. ;)

Here, near Frankfurt, we have now approx. 8°C (46°F) - that's quite comfortable for the winter. I suppose that we will have palms here in the near future...

@Robin - here in the Chicago we are at 60 degrees F tonight at 8:00pm. By this time tommorow we should be at 5 degrees F. The storm is just coming in now. We had a foot of snow on the ground but it is now washing away with the rain.

How warm was it by you yesterday?

One thing people say about the weather in Chicago, if you don't like it just wait a little bit and it will change.

I need a glass of White Zin Eric.

Here in balmy Wisconsin, we got around +6 (Fahrenheit, R-Runner) by noon yesterday (Jan. 13), but dipped down around -16 F. last night. This morning it was hovering around 0, but it was around -5 last I checked (around 5 p.m), and it's dropping even more. I'm Robin Banks with Anno1602's weather report. Back to you, Mama.

eric... , ive heard that there is towns which still thinks they are the first pilegrims which arrived 2 america , is that true ?? :beek:

There are some old towns and cities in the United States, although not as old as many of your European towns and cities.

There is a city in Florida, I think it is St. Augustine, which has the distinction of being the oldest city which is still in existance. St. Augustine was settled by the Spanish, I think in the 1500's.

There is Plymouth, Massachusetts, which is the town that the pilgrims started, and I think that was in the early 1600's.

There are also other early settlements that failed and are now studied by various scientists who dig up the ruins to see what happened.

Among the ruins of early eastern North American settlements have been found remains of what look like Viking or other Scandanavian villages, so maybe your Swedish ancestors were the first Europeans to settle "The New World"!

If im not wrong I think some danish viking (or something) went to america and settled there a while.(i don't remember what year but maybe around 400-800 BC :bconfused )

But the vikings and native people living there got on the wrong foot from the start. :swordfigh

`cause vikings often drank milk but when the natives drank the milk they got sick and try'ed to force the vikings back home(the natives was laktos-intholerant or something)

And in the end the viking population in "The New World" was getting smaller and smaller till there was only a couple of them left(don't know if the last ones sailed home or just vanished :bconfused)

And this is it from Historic Flashbacks----Navatar out :halloha:

hey Eric!! Can i get a refill, my tounge is dried up of all this historic talk
