Hallo, paprika! How are you, Dear Lady?

Another beer for hawk knight!

Hallo Eric, I'm fine thanks, and how are you?
I'm decorating my castle at the moment so I'm rather busy.
Would you care to drink a rum with me? and I'll have an Irish Coffee please and let's give the rest of the company a drink (obviously on my tab) as well to try and bring some activity into this place, and to welcome Wanderer, what do you think?

FrankishHero's spying eyes can not quite recognize this wanderer...it is someone he has never seen before. Frankish was quick to ask the new bar-fly questions...Where does he come from? How old is he? Does he like cats? What does he think about pie?...

Wanderer looks a bit startled for a moment, surprised by FrankishHero's sudden thrust.
But then, reminding himself as a young man and how unconcerned he's been, he shows a broad smile and asks:
You're not curious young friend, aren't you?
But to answer your questions: I come from here and there, did some time travelling from 1602 to 1503 and back, I have been to many countries and places, I crossed the Fairy Forest and the Hive and I've been to Buxtehude, the famous german town where the dogs bark with their tails.
How old am I? Good question - an answer could be: Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young to Die. I'm giving you a puzzle, I've been about 20 years old when this phrase could be heared out of these little boxes.
I like cats and dogs, when it's not just raining. But what I like even better, is a pigling roasted on a spit.
And finally, yes I like pie, especially the apple pie my mother made - and American Pie by Don McLean (not the Madonna cover version).
And now that I've been speaking this much let's have a drink to relax the tongue.

:hello: Sir Eric, another round of drinks for everyone, and an XXL beer for FrankishHero to prevent him from asking to much, at least for a moment.
And for yourself, whatever you like, I guess it's rum.

Penelope heard Wanderer speaking and was quite surprised that he´s come through the fairy forest. She put down her mug and turn to speak with him

Welcome, wanderer. My name is penelope. I´m here for a little rest. As I heard you spoken to FH you came from far away and your journey must have taken a long time. There are many long roads which run through the fairy forest and very deep one in the hive. And you must also have sailed the seven sees with the big ships which bring you to never known new places. It seems to me you need a little rest after you long and lonley journey. Whould you like to join us and take a seat befor the fire place.?

Maybe Sir Dobber can tell us some of his tales or the young knights here may tell us some of their adventures.

Dear landlord, please serve these gentlemen some drinks. You are also welcome to have one. And for Lady Paprika please give her what she prevers. And I will have an other mug of this black and hot brew.

Wanderer turns his face as is he notices that someone 's talking to him, and he's pleased to see a nice Lady.

Thank you for the warm welcome Lady Penelope, nice to meet you. And you're right, it has been a long journey, and I'm glad that I happened to find this place along my way. And I would appreciate it very much to join your group around the fire and listen to a story if someone is in the right mood for some storytelling.

Angryminer still sits at the fireplace and seemed to be thinking for a while. Then he sits up and speaks to Traveller.
You wanted to talk about the story. I've been thinking about it. The last thing I can remember is that I was leading a small army into Adrianople, with the Bulgarian army a couple of days behind us, wasn't it this way? And I suspected a trap, because there was few resistance. And, weren't you with me? Oh, it's been long since then. Do you remember it exactly?

Dobber walks to the bar and gets another drink, crosses to the doorway, checks the weather and returns to the fireplace.
Hello Wanderer, a wonderful place the Fairy Forest is would you say? How did you like the beetle race? And oh what a journey upon leaving the Forest, destined to do battle with a mighty magician. Tell us about your journeys to 1503, did you drink from the fountain guarded by the undead? Have you fought the giant man-eating lizards and the huge spiders?
All this talk of adventure makes me want to set sail once again, maybe revisit the Uncharted Isles of 1602 or perhaps the Mysterious Island. Or perhaps return to 1503 and fly the Jolly Roger and plunder a few ships.

Wanderer answers Dobber, Hello Dobber, only to take a deep draught out of his mug at the next moment. Then he continues, seems you know exactly what your' e talking about old chap. Oh yeah, that beetle race, I can't tell you how many attempts I needed until I finally made it. And to get the water from the fountain in the 1503 add on, was kind of hard stuff, the undead were really nasty. I see that we must have been fighting the same foe then. Actually I'm looking forward to a new time passage. Let's see what 1701 has in stock for us. A new challenge, new adventures, new puzzles. And talking of returning to 1503 and you under the Jolly Roger,be aware that my ships are not going to be your prey.

When I was last in 1503, my Aristocrats had taken to desiring salt and spices for seasoning their food. They also had started mixing with the lower classes at the taverns to drink ale and smoke their cigars while their wives entertained at home with wine. And to beat all they liked wearing silk clothing underneath their fancy furs! They expected their children to still attend school and still felt a need for whale oil for their lamps, I guess so they could have light to read the books they got at the library they demanded. And whenever a Merchant decided he was wealthy enough, he would purchase building materials and have his house upgraded to Aristocrat status and join the elite! I may hold off a bit before going there once again.

First, welcome to all the new visitors of this splendid Tavern! And, Eric, I think it would be a good tradition to welcome all newcomers with a nice cold mug of beer!

Angry, it's good that we're literate (despite of being in the middle ages) and we kept notes of our progress. The last thing I recall is that I was rushing ahead to do some reconnaissance and I met Kuno, who was wounded by a group of poor Varangians (of course, we dealt with them easily). The main army was coming behind me and it was slower because of the provision carts, travelling with it. Oh, and we had an insight of the future through Richard's last words for his side of the battle in Adrianople - the main army probably made it to the city just before the Romean-Arab forces arrived. We should consult the chroniclers for more information! Oh, if I had some more free time and inspiration...

Traveller's Log - The month of Chrven (July), day 7th
We're Closing In!

It's two days since my last log. Because of our decreased speed, we were moving with less stops and beyond all limits of exhaustion and fatigue. Not only that we're heavily armed, which doesn't allow fast gallop, but we were also with around 10 Mercian soldiers - two men on one horse, some of which were heavily wounded. We already lost 7 of these brave warriors from the Albion! Thankfully, Kuno is still holding - this man's a really strong and stubborn one! Anyway, we were moving all the time, so I couldn't write in my log, while on the horseback. Only now I decided to give a longer rest to me and my men. That's because my rear scouts returned half an hour ago, together with fore scouts of another army - our own main Allied one. Did we move so slow or did they move faster than I would ever expect? Maybe both... But why should I be surprised - the Allies have proved many times their extraordinary marching pace on their way from the North and North-West to the European South-East! With this tempo I believe we'll reach Adrianopolis within two days. I sent the Allied scouts back to their Commanders to tell them of what has happened with us and I also sent nearly 20 of my men to escort Kuno and his fellow Mercians to the bulk of the army. Hopefully, the healers there would be able to take care of him and maybe even heal him before the battle. In both ways, at least he'll be making Sire Dobber some company... And now, that we've taken care of the wounded, we could march faster ahead and scout the area. I just hope it's not too late for Angry and all the others in Adrian's city!
On the other matter, I tried to interogate the Varangian prisoner but, unfortunately, it seems that he could not speak neither Greek, nor Latin and none of my men understood his barbaric language. I was wondering if I should take him with us or just kill him in place, but now I'm glad I took him. Now, that our army is so close, I sent him together with the wounded to meet Lord Hawk Knight. They're from a much closer region and maybe he'll be able to understand and interogate the Varangian.
Now I and my 280 men (without the 20, which left to meet the bulk of the army) will ride forward as fast as we can. I have a bad misgiving and I feel that we must hurry at our best to scout and prevent any eventual ambushes. But, who knows, maybe I'm just worrying too much? I do hope that Adrianople is out of danger and the Romean and Arab forces are still waiting us at Constantinople. But I do not believe it...

======
Ok. It didn't become so good, but at least to keep the story going!
Btw I see that I hadn't written in the story since 7 pages!

The whole story's updated here (http://forum.sunflowers.de/showpost.php?p=143208&postcount=35).
