Well, I guess it's my turn.
Angryminer's tale
Chapter 26
The 4th of july:
Kuno has become healthy again and traveled towards the reinforcements to meet Dobber. His unconciousness was obviously caused by Sakim, who seemed to be a spy.
I write these words so easily, yet I don't think I really grasp them. I was so suspicious towards Sakim in the beginning, but trusted him so much after the time we spend together. I would have called him a friend, now I call him a foe.
I spend my time organizing Adrianople. I expect our enemies to attack every day and every hour. We are fortifying the city as good as we can for we must avoid an enemy assault because we will propably be outnumbered by far. Now that Sakim has turned out to be an enemy I feel that these walls might just be a trap.
The 9th of july:
The time has come. Roman banners have shown up in the east this evening. Immediately messangers and some armored guards were send towards our reinforcements to seek help. Later we also spotted arabian forces. As I'm writing this the first enemy troops are positioning themselves around the town while still more and more are coming from the east. I do not know when the enemy will be fully in position as that depends on their number. If we are lucky they will besiege us. If we are less lucky they will be ready for the assault before dusk. If their numbers are too high to be ready before dusk - ...
We number a mere 40 thousand soldiers, the enemy exceeds this by far, while still more are marching towards us.
Later that day...
From the positions the enemy takes up I expect that the enemy will try to assault and not besiege us. Their numbers exceed 120 thousand by far. I expect the assault in the morning. We spotted enough siege machinery to brake the walls within half a day.
May god be once again be with us.
Later on I will write something about the start of the assault.
